Do I have to pick up my race packet if I’m already registered?
Yes. Your race packet contains your timing chip, swim cap, and other essential items that you must have in order to race.
When and where do I pick up my packet?
Madison Marriott West, Saturday, June 9th, 2012 from Noon – 07:00pm.
Can I pick up my packet on race day?
Race Day packet pick up will be available ONLY to athletes that paid in advance for this option from 5:30am-
6:15am outside of the transition area at Governor Nelson State Park. Race Day
Packet Pickup will close at 6:15am sharp. If you are picking up your packet on race
day please allow enough time to park and pick up your packet.
Can someone pick up my packet for me?
Yes, that person must bring a photocopy of your ID and a copy of your registration
confirmation email received from active.com.
Do I need a photo ID when I pick up my packet?
Yes.
I’m a beginner and I don’t know what to do. Can someone help me?
There will be a first-timer instruction sheet in your packet, please refer to this. Also, don’t be shy about asking for help from fellow racers and race officials. Keep in mind that volunteers are not always triathletes themselves and therefore are not necessarily the best people to ask for help.
What will be served on the course?
Sports drink and energy gels will be served on the run course ONLY.
When is the KIDS Race?
NOON
Do the KIDS wear wet suits?
NO, but they can use whatever flotation devices they like
Can parents assist their KIDS in the water?
YES.
What time should I arrive at the park?
When the transition area opens or earlier. People who arrive late tend to feel rushed and do not enjoy their experience as much as they could have by simply arriving on time.
What time does the transition area open?
5:30am
What is a transition area?
This is the area where you will stage all of your belongings and where you will transition from swim to bike and from bike to run.
Is it a beach start?
NO. It is an in-water start. The water will be waist deep when you begin.
Is there a pre-race meeting?
YES. 6:45am at the race site.
Where do I park?
In Governor Nelson State Park until it is full. When the park fills you must park on Highway M and walk your bike in.
When are the awards?
Awards may be picked up adjacent to the timing tent once results are made official. There will be no official award ceremony.
Where does the run take place?
In Gov. Nelson State Park on the trail system.
I want to switch to a different event. Can I do this?
Yes, please contact us by May 31st to make changes.
What color outfit should I wear?
Any color will do, just wear what is comfortable for you.
Do I bring my own swim cap?
NO. You will be provided a swim cap that you are required to wear for the swim.
What happens if I lose my timing chip?
You are not eligible for an award and may not be placed in the official results.
What if I can’t attend the award ceremony and I won an award?
You can pick up your award at Endurance House. However, awards will not be mailed.
Should I wear a wetsuit?
We recommend that you do, although it is not mandatory.
Can I rent a wetsuit?
Yes, but hurry rentals sell out quickly. Wetsuits will be available for purchase at the pre-race expo.
I have additional questions that are not covered in this Q & A, what do I do?
Ask the friendly volunteers at the pre-race expo located at the Madison Marriott in Middleton, Wisconsin.
Can I wear headphones during the race?
No, you cannot wear headphones during any portion of the race.
